The One Good Thing Congress Can Still Do For Clean Energy This Year!

The 111th Congress is now officially a ‘lame duck’ body.

At this end, we’re trying to resist making reference to the kind of body it’s been for its entire session to this point, with respect to energy policy.  However, while it’s undeniable that senators have done precious little to advance the cause of renewable energy during their term, they still have the chance to do something very simple but profoundly important before heading home to  first-foot it in their home districts.

And that would be to extend for two years the Treasury Grant Program that makes such a difference for businesses wanting to install solar and other renewables.  With the extension, we’re looking at  perhaps 65,000 additional jobs, but without it a halving of the funding available for solar energy.
