The 2025 Solar Summit was attended/viewed by students and trainees from many universities (University of Washington, Everett Community College, Whitworth University, etc.) and training programs (Sphere 1, Puget Sound Electrical Apprenticeship Program, etc.) thanks in part to our student scholarship sponsor, Cascadia Renewables.
We offered students an opportunity to share their takeaways. Communications student Cailey from Whitworth University shares her thoughts on our second session:
What stood out most in this breakout session was how complicated the solar funding landscape has become, yet how committed everyone is to helping projects succeed anyway. Even with political uncertainty, shifting tax, credit rules, and tight timelines, the speakers emphasized that there are still real paths forward through state grants, legal support, and the new Washington State Green Bank. What really stayed with me was the sense of collaboration. Instead of focusing on the setbacks, the presenters focused on how to guide communities through the confusion and keep solar projects moving.
