The 2025 Solar Summit was attended/viewed by students and trainees from many universities (University of Washington, Everett Community College, Whitworth University, etc.) and training programs (Sphere 1, Puget Sound Electrical Apprenticeship Program, etc.) thanks in part to our student scholarship sponsor, Cascadia Renewables.
We offered students an opportunity to share their takeaways. Communications student Cailey from Whitworth University shares her thoughts on our first session:
What stood out to me most in this breakout session was how personal tribal, clean energy work really is. The panelists discussed solar and micro grids as much more than technology. For them, these projects are about caring for their communities, protecting their land, and making sure future generations have what they need.
I was especially drawn to how much they emphasize, trust, listening, and building real relationships. Instead of rushing in with a ready-made plan, they stress the importance of being present, being honest, and working side-by-side with tribes. Hearing clean energy, framed this way, made the whole conversation feel grounded and meaningful.
