The Arlington Microgrid Project

As part of Solar Washington's goal to work with people, companies, programs and organizations, joining together to advance solar energy in Washington State, we will be highlighting a variety of solar projects in Washington. This month, Solar Washington's Vice President Alex Nephew visited the Snohomish County PUD Arlington Microgrid Project with his fellow insurance broker Adam Bain and came back with a video that he is sharing with the Solar Washington's audience.

The Snohomish County PUD Arlington Microgrid Project includes:

  • 500-kilowatt solar array with smart inverters
  • 1,000 kW/1,400 kWh lithium-ion battery storage system
  • V2G – Vehicle-to-Grid System
  • Microgrid Control System and Building Energy Management System
  • Clean Energy Center

In this video, Snohomish County PUD (and former Solar Washington Board Member) Suzy Oversvee describes the community solar component of the system.

To Snohomish PUD Since ‘vehicle to grid (v2g) can remove the problem of ev’s being only an ever increasing load on a grid- why no mention of it in this video about the Arlington mini grid project? It’s in your written list of objectives.
