Washington’s 20th Solar Summit Brings Together Solar Proponents In Uncertain Times

Seattle, WA — Amidst the barrage of changes in solar energy policy over the past several years, the 20th Annual Solar Summit by Solar Washington provides insights and information to guide industry practitioners and homeowners alike about what to do in the year ahead and chart a path forward for renewable energy in Washington State.

Hosted by Solar Washington, the Summit will take place on October 24, 2025, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at South Seattle College.  New this year will also be a simulcast Summit watching party in Spokane.  Registration and sponsorship information for both can be found at www.solarwa.org

This year’s theme, Advancing Solar in a Time of Uncertainty, reflects the challenges and opportunities facing the industry.  From the Inflation Reduction Act to more recent changes in federal policies, support for solar energy has shifted tremendously. At the same time, Washington State policymakers have enhanced support for solar. The mix of changes can be confusing for everyone from solar installers and manufacturers to homeowners and solar financers.

Summit sessions will include:

  • Powering Sovereignty: Tribal Clean Energy Case Studies
  • What Remains of Federal and State Financing and Incentives
  • Deconstructing Community Solar in Washington
  • Microgrids – From Backup to Backbone

Panelists will discuss the status of grants and tax credits for solar as well as alternatives such as loans for financing. Other panels will discuss new technologies and community solutions as well as pricing for solar energy. Case studies from tribal experts will provide details about how solar has progressed in tribal communities. Solar-related firms will also highlight their products and services at an exhibition on the side of the summit.

“The Summit offers an unparalleled opportunity for homeowners, policymakers and industry experts in the solar community to learn about the latest developments and share perspectives,” said Solar Washington president Richard Hartung. “Participants will come away with the knowledge they need to plug in to solar industry developments better in the year ahead.”

Since 2015, Solar Washington has hosted the Solar Summit as an annual forum for education and collaboration. The event attracts a wide range of participants, including manufacturers, distributors, engineers, consultants, installers, utilities, municipalities, tribes, policymakers, advocacy organizations, lenders, homeowners, and students.
