SnoPUD Customers’ Solar Energy Generation Tops Five Megawatts

Everett, WA – Solar energy is shining bright among Snohomish County Public Utility District customers. Nearly 800 customers now have solar electric (photovoltaic or “PV”) systems on their roofs for a total generating capacity of 5 megawatts. In the past year, solar energy capacity has increased nearly 70 percent.

June 10, 2015 Legislative Update

The state legislature is ironing out last minute budget details at this time. Budget negotiations will have implications for solar as they may affect the current incentive structure. The latest bill being considered is HB 1912 sponsored by Jeff Morris and is scheduled for Executive Session this Friday, June 12, 2015.


Governor Inslee praises five Washington “Solar Communities”

OLYMPIA – Gov. Jay Inslee today proclaimed the cities of Bellevue, Edmonds, Kirkland, Mercer Island and Seattle “Northwest Solar Communities,” acknowledging their various initiatives that have increased residential solar installations by nearly 200% since 2013. Bellevue, Edmonds, Kirkland, Mercer Island, and Seattle have been recognized for increasing residential solar energy installations through reduced costs and streamlined permitting.
